Neil Young "A Treasure" Album Review.
Unfortunatly I hook you guys up with this album because it's an official album and not a bootleg, but I'll give you my best review of it. Let me start by saying these shows that make up this album were in 1984, and I'm not a big fan of Neil's 80's stuff. This is the time were he got sued for making music, "Uncharacteristic of Neil Young", which is obviously crazy. And this certain time in the 80's was when Neil Young went country, and trust me--this album is FULL BLOWN COUNTRY. With that being said, I didn't think I'd like it very much.
But as always, Neil Young is full of surprises. I found the musicians on this album to be excellent, all playing crazy solo in between Neil's songs. There's a great rendition of "Flying On The Ground is Wrong", one of my favorite Young songs, and it sounds great turned country. That song was from his Buffalo Springfield days, and he even has "Are You Ready For The Country" from his Harvest days on this album. But it's not an album of old material, there is 5 unreleased songs on here, most of which recently written. My favorite track on the album is probably "Grey Riders" What they do that song is amazing. Anyways, it's worth the listen.
